Another Weekend in Edinburgh 21 February 2012

Rufford Station

On Friday morning I set off for Edinburgh to spend the weekend with Adam(my son). Unfortunately this will be the last weekend I spend with him in Edinburgh as he is moving to London. Adam has been with his present company since leaving University and after nearly 4 years the time has come for him to move onto new pastures, he will be working on a large project for one of the large UK retailers.

I am presently moored about a 5 minute walk from Rufford station so getting to Preston to catch the train to Edinburgh could not be easier . I had booked the ticket a few weeks ago and treated myself to a First class ticket, so you might be able to imagine my disappointment when the Edinburgh train arrived at Preston missing 4 coaches one being the First Class coach. Instead of sitting in comfort I found myself having to stand for the first hour!!!

When I arrived at Edinburgh the weather was quite pleasant and Adam picked me up from the station. We decided to have a relaxing evening so just went out for a meal and returned to his flat to watch a DVD.

Saturday morning we decided to use the bus and go to Leith. The idea was to just walk round the old dock area. The weather was very nice for aimless wandering . While relaxing and having a coffee we decided that as we were in Leith we ought to go and have a look round Royal Yacht Britannia. Now I am certainly no Royalist but on the other hand I am not a Republican  I am just indifferent. I did enjoy my trip round the yacht if only to give me some idea how the Royals live!!

On Saturday evening we headed into Edinburgh to a very nice Lebanese Restaurant we had been to before.  Sunday morning I headed back to Rufford and at least this time the train had the First Class coach!!
