I have not updated my diary for a few weeks as my heart has not been in it. Just after my last update I found out that my good friend Stephanie "Stevie" Vander had lost her fight against Cancer. I had known Stevie since 1967/8 (memory not that great) She had that rare quality of only ever seeing good in people and always had a big smile. I have so many good memories of her but one I will never forget is a joint 21st Birthday Party we had. Stevie married my best friend Paul Vander and they made a fantastic couple between them they would light any room and were just full of fun.
Stevie and Paul have three children Daniel, Adam and Beth and only Stevie and Paul could have produced such amazing children who are a credit to both of them. I know Stevie will be looking down on them now with great pride.
Yesterday has to be one of the saddest days of my life when I went to say "goodbye" to Stevie. Only Stevie could have completely filled a Church. and shows how much she was loved by everyone. It was a celebration of her life and everyone wore bright coloured clothes, and I know everyone was there because they wanted to say "goodbye" to an amazing person.
You may have gone now
But never forgotten
For the lives you touched
And the hearts you won
Stevie spent the last month of her life in St. Peter and St. James Hospice whose nurses, doctors and carers are a wonderful team of caring and loving people who made her last weeks somehow bearable. The Hospice relies solely on charitable funding to finance a huge annual budget of £2 million. Your donation will be so gratefully received, thank you.
Daniel,Adam and some friends will be cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End to raise money for St Peter and St James Hospice in memory of Stevie
