I can not think of anything more boring than reading about me!!

“you must have lost your marbles completely!!” this is what a good friend said when I told him I was moving out of my comfortable 4 bedroom house in the Cotswolds to live on a boat on the UK Canal System for a couple of years. Well three years later I am still on the boat and every year I say this is going to be my last and move back onto dry land. Somehow every year I seem to find an excuse not to move off my boat, it is such a fantastic life.
Having spent most of my adult life flying round the world on business and pleasure, the leisurely life on the canals is just great. Having retired fairly early I just find the independence of living on a boat and changing my scenery every week a great way to live.
I have not given up on the foreign travel and every year I try and go away for three months after Christmas. Last year I spent three months in South America and the year before that three months in India.

I have two great children (well adults) Gemma and Adam. Both have now graduated from University. Gemma lives and works in London and Adam is all over the place though he is now living in Birmingham.
The reason for the website is quite simple, I am very bad at keeping in touch with people so via the internet my friends can monitor what I am up to. The other reason is for my own benefit as I do like to go back through my diary and see what I was doing at various times and I guess it also gives me a slight discipline in as much as I do try to keep it up to date.
